About Me

Hi, I’m Julia and I am currently a junior at Syracuse University studying Public Health!

This is me!

This semester, I decided to further my education at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (aka DIS). Here I will broaden my perspective on global healthcare and also learn what it is like to live in Europe!

I will be taking five classes while I’m at DIS- Epidemiology, Medical Ethics, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Health Economics and Health Policy in Europe, and Health Delivery and Prioritization (which is my core course). I will discuss all of my courses more in depth as they begin later in my blog! Also, watch out for my reflection on my core course-I will definitely be writing about that!

While I am here, I will be living in the Public Health LLC alongside other DIS students where I will be able to dive further into public health in Denmark. I will be sure to write about adventures that I go on with my LLC as well as my overall experience in my LLC.

Here are some fun facts about me:

  • I have never been outside of the United States!
  • I am from Hamden, Connecticut.
  • I have never written a blog before, but have wanted to start one for a while!
  • I love the city lifestyle!
  • I have two tattoos, the first being “xoxo” in my grandmother’s handwriting. The second being a tiny orange slice that I got alongside my two best friends to symbolize Syracuse and our friendship during our college years.

I started this blog to keep my family and friends at home updated on all of my adventures during my semester abroad! Also to give future DIS students insight as to what it’s like to be a student at DIS. And for those who have never left the country, I want to portray what it is like being an “outsider” in a foreign country for the first time! Whoever may be reading this, I hope you can join me on my journey while I learn to cope in Copenhagen! Click the button below to keep up to date on my latest adventure!
